With all the planning needed to make a wedding day incredible, it is easy to see why a couple would wish to ensure they’re getting amazing pictures to celebrate the day. As people who’ve gone through the process of planning a wedding, and who also see the world as wedding photographers – we decided to write this post to help all the future bride & grooms as they look to make the most from their wedding photographers and videographers in Melbourne.
Before booking carefully vet your photographer:
Reviewing the portfolio of a wedding photographer should be simple enough as most photographers these days have an online presence. It’d be a red flag to you if they don’t!
You should be able to easily come across a wedding image gallery, alongside individual blog posts showing a larger collection of photos. If you can connect with the style of the photographer across multiple blog posts & galleries, you should feel assured you are making the correct decision.
Share a reasonable shot list:
Not all couples have a shot list – but if there’re any images you would like, it is critical to share this with your wedding photographer beforehand. Your shot list may cover a couple of different parts of the big day:
●Particular poses you would like for your solo portraits or couple’s portraits.
●Special ceremony shots
●Family formal pairings.
Keep in mind, having a few shots in mind is absolutely all right, but giving your photographer a long shot list can actually end up serving as a big disruption. If the photographer is focused on just capturing these particular poses, they’ll possibly end up missing out on other candid things taking place in your ceremony. So, share a reasonable shot list to your photographer to get the best out of him/her.
Ask someone to take responsibility of corralling important guests for photos:
This can save your time if you’ve requested informal group pictures during the reception or after ceremony. The role is ideal for a friend or family member who you wish to give a role in the wedding. Having a friend who knows what the people in the picture look like can be especially useful. Sometimes formal pictures can be a bit like herding cats!
Have an engagement session:
Here at Mighty Vision we always recommend an engagement session for our couples as it lets us get comfortable being in front of the camera, see how we work, and get to know one another – all in a stress-free environment.
